10 Things A Girl From Botswana Can Relate To

Hello hello, hello!

botswana girl

Today's post is a bit of a lighthearted one....not everyday serious posts!

I'm heading to Botswana (my home country) in a few months and although I'm excited, there are a few things that I'm not looking forward to. That got me thinking....does every Motswana girl feel the same way I do?

* Motswana = Someone from Botswana. Not Botswanan or Botswanese or Botswalian. Yes, CNN, I'm talking to you too. SMH.

Anyways... here we go

1) You've wanted to be a model, dancer, singer, rapper or TV presenter at some point in your life.

Don't even lie. You know you have created Facebook "fan" page in the past. You've taken grainy pictures on your camera phone, watermarked them and uploaded them with a caption "great shoot today".

No? Perhaps you've tried singing? You've probably considered joining My Star, Gemstones or My African Dream because you mastered Alicia Keys' If I Ain't Got You (guilty).

Nah? Then you've definitely tried rapping. You even transformed your old Biology notebook that you never used into a "lyric book" (guilty). You've written random things that rhyme, inserted a couple of curse words here and there, recorded it on your phone and maybe even uploaded it to Soundcloud as your first "single".

2) You've had a Facebook friend with the last name "Minaj" or "Fenty"

That person may even be you. If you're reading this and you're my friend, and you're denying it. It's too late. You know yourselves. It seems like Minaj makes you ten times cuter. Makes you feel like a BOSS.

3) You walk with earphones in your ear but nothing playing to avoid being cat called.

This is probably a thing that girls do everywhere. You cannot leave your house without earphones otherwise you won't make it to your destination without rejecting at least 2 marriage proposals.

The "Eh pssst...sweetie" thing doesn't work, guys.

4) You know someone that says "Eipools" instead of "Apples"

That may be you, I don't know. But as my sister once said, pronounciation is personal. It's how you spell it that counts. So ladies, be proud of your eipools!

5) You've posted "Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, Today is a Gift, Thats why it's called the Present" somewhere on social media

And felt super badass about it coz it's totes true. *flicks hair*

6) You've tried/wanted to try red hair before.

Problem is, it's a struggle to find it in Botswana (extensions, guys! lol). Like, a real struggle. I still want red hair tho. I might do it next time I get my hair done!  My friend is obsessed with red hair, and I can tolerate it because it suits her so well. I'm actually jealous. She doesn't know I'm jel. Hi, V! :)

7) You've had that photo of T.I on your phone.

You know which one I'm talking about. I can't post it on here because of copyright laws and what not, but it's the one where he's wearing a red beanie to the side. Blue background? Green jacket? yes? no?

8) You have a fake name for when you give out fake numbers.

I'm Amantle. You?

9) Red lipstick is life.

Even during the day. Wear it without a care in the world, girl!

10) You (or someone you know) takes selfies with a point and shoot camera.

Ey, ain't nobody got cash for the iPhone 6! Just get your camera, find a mirror, point....and shoot! I had a pink Nikon Coolpix S210 haha!

I could go on and on, but I think 10 is enough! Do you know anyone that does this? Share it with them. Or don't...I don't really mind.

For the non Batswana out there, that gave you little bit of info about us, I guess. Can you relate to any of these?

Until Next Time,

Peace and Love
