Food & Drink: Almond Milk for Lactose Intolerants

Hey there!

So I know some of us unlucky people are lactose intolerant. Some have been lactose intolerant all their life, and some, like me, have bodies that just decided...."oh hey, I'm going to make life so difficult by not being able to digest lactose"
I think someone's out to get me, guys! I swear. I love chocolate. I love ice cream. I love milkshakes. I love cereal. My middle name might as well be MILK. but No. I can't have any of that. (actually, I can, and I do, but I have to suffer the consequences later on) Luckily, I'm only slightly intolerant...I won't die if I have a milkshake once in a while.
To avoid misery, I have discovered (more like my mom has forced me to love this) Alpro Milk.
It comes in different flavours, and Alpro does a lot of soya and almond milk-based stuff.

I don't like drinking milk alone, and the same applies for these. I drink the Almond Original and the Almond Unsweetened. Personally, I prefer the original because the unsweetened is...well...not sweet.
I like having it with my oatmeal in the morning and if I'm not lazy, I'll make a quick milkshake too.

I definitely recommend this if you are looking for an alternative to diary. 
If you're used to full fat milk (the creamy one), this will taste watery and weird at first. Because I only took semi-skimmed and skimmed milk, this wasn't too much of a transition for me, apart from the almond-y aftertaste, which I have grown to tolerate. :P 
If you're a calorie counter, it's good if you want a low-calorie milk alternative. I just can't be bothered to count calories, lol. 
I'll do a post on how I make my milkshakes, if you'd like to see that! 
I'm still on the lookout for alternatives to cheese (is that even possible? lol), but let me know if you have any recommendations.
